Papers

Since finishing my PhD I have put together some papers to disceminate the ideas and developments behind the advanced hull design features in PolyCAD. As experience is always a factor recent papers improve on some of my earlier efforts.

- Integrating Parametric Hull Generation into Early Stage Design, M. Bole, B. S. Lee, Schiffstechnik Bd.53 - 2006/Ship Technology Research Vol. 53 - 2006.
- Early Stage Integrated Parametric Ship Design, M. Bole, ICCAS 05, Busan, South Korea, 23-26 August 2005.
- Integrating Parametric Hull Generation into Early Stage Design, M. Bole, COMPIT '05, Hamburg, Germany, 8-11 May 2005
- An Hierarchical Approach to Hull Form Design, M. Bole, B. S. Lee, NAV 2003, Palermo, Italy, 24-27 June, 2003.

IntelliHull - PhD Thesis

My PhD thesis on the development of IntelliHull can be found below and includes some of the technical background of both YachtLines and ShipLines. Also of interest is a review of many the hull design techniques found in many commerical hull/ship design systems available today (circa. 2001). The file is 27mb and will take a long time to download if you have a slow connection.

- A Hull Surface Generation Technique Based on a Form Topology and Geometric Constraint Approach, M. Bole, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK, June 2003.

YachtLINES - B.Eng Dissertation
The final year project report on the YachtLINES technique.
- Parametric Generation of Yacht Hulls, M. Bole, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK, May 1997.
